Multimedia Package Project: Social Media Strategy Template
Name: Claire Horner
Topic: Meta Data Center in Mesa, AZ
Section 1: Platform
1. Which social media platforms would you choose to share your project? Select at least two platforms and explain why in roughly three to five sentences.
For this project, I would focus on the apps Instagram and Twitter. Both platforms would allow me to post pictures, videos and captions each with a concise but detailed description of what the photo or video may include. Some things I would like to post would be a thread (Twitter) of different newsworthy topics and events while the building is in construction, such as amenities. For Instagram, I would like to get pictures as the build progresses, and post a carousel of photos to display how it is coming along.
2. Which platforms would you avoid for this project? Select at least one platform and explain why would you avoid using this platform in a few sentences.
I would avoid using Tiktok, as I feel there isn’t enough content I could post that would go far on that platform. I also know the majority of the audience on Tiktok most likely would not engage with the content.
Section 2: Content Curation
1. Which elements from your project would you share on each of your chosen social media platforms? Why are these elements appropriate for the platform?
Platform A: Pictures and video for Instagram. Instagram is widely used for photo and video, so I believe these elements would do best on this platform.
Platform B: Data graphic and video for twitter. I believe these elements would work best for twitter's algorithm, especially with concise captions.
2. Reflect on the types of multimedia elements that you’ve created for your project. How would you rework these items on your social media platforms? Be sure to address your written pieces, your video, your audio, your photos, and your data elements.
When reflecting on this project, I think I could have been more bold and outside of the box. My photo and video elements are fine, but nothing that I personally felt was above average. I would really like to become more creative with angles, while still paying mind to the rules of photography and videography. My data elements were also fairly simple, so I could have challenged myself there more as well.
Section 3: Audience Engagement
1. In approximately two to three sentences, describe your target audience. Your audience must be specific. For example, “everyone on Twitter” is not realistic; “people who like dog videos” is more manageable, but you need to explain why your project appeals to them and what problem it solves for them.
My target audience for this project would be citizens of Mesa and others who may be impacted by or interested in this build. This project helps provide insight and information on the large Meta Data Center. This allows my audience to learn more about what is coming to them.
2. Posting your content is one way to build excitement about your work, but engaging your audience with interactive elements can help them feel more involved. What can you do to help engage your audience on your social media platforms? Consider interactive elements like polls, question and answer boxes, links and hashtags.
I would like to incorporate polls and links into my social media platforms. This would allow me to know my audience better, to see who is and is not a fan of what is going on. The links provided would also give my audience access to websites where they can learn more information.
